An ultrasonic measurement method for full range of oil film thickness EI Scopus SCIE

Abstract :

Ultrasonic method is quite promising for oil film thickness measurement in industry, while there is normally a dead zone for one ultrasonic sensor with a special center frequency when measuring the oil film thickness by the traditional reflection coefficient amplitude. In this paper, an ultrasonic measurement method for full range of oil film thickness was investigated. The theoretical relationship between the oil film thickness and the reflection coefficient phase was firstly built up and the reflection coefficient phase was found to be able to measure the oil film thickness in the dead zone. Then the reflection coefficient amplitude and phase were combined to measure the oil film thickness in the full range. A high-precision calibrated rig, which could form a series of known film thicknesses oil layers, was set up and the performance of this method was shown to work well. This method is significant for online oil film thickness monitoring in industry. © 2018, IMechE 2018.

Self-powered synchronized switch control of parallel inductor for piezoelectric energy harvesting circuit EI Scopus CSCD PKU

Abstract :

In order to use the circuit of synchronized switch harvesting on inductor (SSHI) for piezoelectric energy in practice, a new self-powered SSHI circuit was proposed based on solving the static capacitance of piezoelectric energy harvester by harmonic and static analysis with the help of ANSYS. The self-powered circuit consists of the parts of energy harvesting, control voltage generating and DC power supply. The output voltage, generated by the two-step R-C shift circuit, the comparator and XOR gate, turns on the switch at appropriate time and AC-DC energy harvesting circuit supplies electric energy for low-power electronic devices, so as to achieve the function of SSHI piezoelectric energy harvesting circuit. The experimental results show that the proposed circuit can improve the energy harvesting efficiency, and provides a new and easy method for the application of SSHI in practice. ©, 2015, Chinese Vibration Engineering Society. 考虑疲劳寿命的压电悬臂梁结构优化设计方法 CSCD PKU

Abstract :

提出了一种插入式的压电悬臂梁结构,通过将其末端质量块转化成等效惯性力和惯性力矩,得出了求解其固有频率的理论公式.在此基础上,设计了一系列一阶固有频率相同、长宽比不同的压电悬臂梁.通过AN-SYS模态分析发现,理论计算和仿真结果的误差均在5%以内,证明了这种求解压电悬臂梁固有频率方法的可行性.通过瞬态分析得出,随着长宽比的增大,压电悬臂梁的输出电压及压电层的最大应力随长宽比呈近似线性关系增大,这种线性关系对于压电悬臂梁的性能预测很有意义.最后通过疲劳分析软件nCode DesignLife,求解出了各压电悬臂梁的疲劳寿命,并以此为依据,选取了最优的结构设计方案.为压电悬臂梁的结构优化设计建立了一种新的、相对完整的方法.

Abstract :

An algorithm for improving the accuracy of the estimation of parameters that characterize a multifrequency damped sinusoidal signal is presented. The core ideas of the algorithm is that the signal is weighted using Hann window before discrete Fourier transform and the frequencies, amplitudes, phases, and damping factors of the signal are obtained by frequency domain interpolation. It is shown that the purpose of improving the accuracy of parameter estimation is achieved using Hann window, which reduces long-range leakage and frequency-domain interpolation that eliminates the effect of the picket fence. The sensitivity analysis of the changing of the signal parameters, noise and spectral resolution, shows that both the effects of strong noise and spectral interference are considered, proving the reliability and high-accuracy parameters estimation in a number of engineering applications. Otherwise, the characteristic of efficiency computational and low memory demands are advantageously adopted for the poor computing resources situations. Extracting the impact signal of the rotor test bed using this method is illustrated. The result shows that the method can be an optional method for the fault features extraction of the mechanical impact.

Abstract :

A new reflecting light based on LED arrays is presented to solve the problem of ferro-imaging quality that is affected by the lower-brightness and non-uniform illumination of the original reflecting light. The new reflecting light is designed for on-line visual ferrograph (OLVF), and has a configuration of circular ring LED array composed with eight 0.1 W low-power LEDs. The theoretical and simulation analyses of uniformity illumination are used to determine geometrical parameters, the installing positions and the range of uniform illumination area. The irradiance distribution of the circular ring LED array is analyzed and calculated by TracePro to validate the characteristics of uniformity illumination on the middle of wear debris deposition zone. Experimental results show that the new reflecting light achieves a better uniformity illumination, its irradiance distribution ranges from 130 to 150 W/m2, luminous flux is 56.64 lm, color rendering index is 82.6|, color temperature is 6376 K and power is 0.336 1 W. The performance requirements such as lower power consumption, high-brightness and uniform illumination have been achieved, and ferro-imaging quality is remarkably improved.The proposed reflecting light is applicable for OLVF to observe the morphology of wear debris and to extract the visual feature information.

Abstract :

In order to study the properties of water-lubricated bearing, the real water film pressure distribution should be obtained. The circumferential continuous distribution of film pressure can not be acquired by traditional measurement methods for lubrication film pressure of sliding bearing, and the collector ring which is used for transmitting the signal has the shortcomings of high cost and large interference. In this paper, a wireless measurement system was studied and designed, and which can be used for measuring the entire circumferential continuous film pressure distribution of water-lubricated bearing and monitoring the operation of water-lubricated shafting. The components of measurement system which includes the wireless acquisition and transmission equipment, wireless receive equipment, the sensor and signal disposal module, the measurement software and the bearing test rig are introduced. The film pressure of water-lubricated rubber bearing with eight grooves and flat staves was measured using this system, and the comparative analysis of measurement and simulation results was conducted. It shows that the practicability of the measurement system is well, and which can also be used for measuring the film pressure of water-lubricated bearings with other materials and structures.

Abstract :

A highly accurate model for angular contact ball bearing lubrication is proposed to investigate the performance of oil-air lubrication using the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) method. The MRF (multi-reference frame) method is adopted considering the complicated motion characteristics of the bearing. Comprehensive factors such as geometric features and bearing operating parameters are considered and discussed to provide guidelines for the optimization of lubrication and cooling efficiency. The influence of two types of cages on the lubrication is also analyzed. The results show that the average temperature inside the bearing with the spherical pockets cage is lower than that with the cylindrical pockets cage. The average oil volume fraction decreases when the clearance of the cage pockets increases and the temperature inside the bearing is lower when the clearance of the cage pockets is proper. The distributions of lubricant and temperature are not uniform inside the bearing cavity. The average oil volume fraction and the average temperature inside the bearing cavity decrease when the rotating speed increases.

Passivation and mechanical property improvement of Co-Cr-Mo alloy EI Scopus CSCD PKU

Abstract :

The surfaces of Co-Cr-Mo alloy were modified by high temperature passivation. The impact of the passivation temperature on the microstructures and mechanical properties of the Co-Cr-Mo alloy was investigated. The passivated alloy was characterized with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and conventional mechanical probes. The tribological properties of the modified surfaces in bovine serum albumin solution were evaluated with standard tribometer. The results show that the passivation increased the hardness, roughness, and wear assistance, but decreased the friction coefficient of the modified Co-Cr-Mo alloy surfaces synthesized with spinal like Cr2O3 grains. As the passivation temperature rose up, the thickness, hardness and roughness of the passivated surfaces increased. The morphology of wear track depends strongly on the surface roughness and interface adhesion.

Abstract :

The tribological property of the TiNi coatings, synthesized by magnetron sputtering on the surfaces of machines ' linear rolling guide, was improved by oxidation. The impact of the oxidation techniques: in-situ vacuum oxidation at 550 and ex-situ anodized oxidation, on the tribological property of TiNi coatings was investigated. The mi-crostructures and mechanical properties of the TiNi coatings, before and after oxidation, were characterized with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and conventional mechanical probes. The preliminary results show that both oxidation techniques significantly reduce the friction coefficient of the TiNi coatings. For instance, under dry friction condition, the friction coefficient of the TiNi coating was reduced to 0.17~0.19, 60% lower than that of the control sample (0.4~0.6). Moreover, when it comes to wear-resistance and friction damages, in-situ thermal oxidation outperforms ex-situ anodized oxidation.

Abstract :

To overcome the questions such as incomplete traditional angular contact ball bearing dynamic model and distorted defect simulation method, a 7 Degrees Of Freedom (DOF) dynamic model and a defect simulation method were proposed. By considering the nonlinear bearing reaction forces, the Hertz elastic contact theory, the surface defect, the damping and the high frequency resonance, the 7DOF dynamic model was created to reveal the law of affection of defect on bearing dynamic and the vibration transfer process. The simulation method for local defects was presented, and the relation between the defect and continuous change of clearance was researched to reflect the surface profile shape, further more the vibration characteristics of defect was obtained from dynamic model. The vibration response was measured via bearing test rig, thus the differences and common points between the model calculation results and test results were contrasted to verify the validity and effectiveness of the proposed dynamic model which would be applied to theory research and practical engineering of bearings and machine tool spindle. ©, 2014, CIMS.
