Abstract :

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to apply Maslow's hierarchy of needs to extend the expectation-confirmation model of information systems continuance (ECM-IS) to analyze users' continuance intention of social networking services (SNSs). Design/methodology/approach - A survey is conducted on 202 users of social networking services in China. Findings - Fulfillment of self-actualization needs has a significant impact on continuance intention; however, the direct impact of fulfillment of social needs on continuance intention is not significant but fully mediated by satisfaction. Research limitations/implications - The first limitation is that the participants in the sample are undergraduates. Second, this study has used cross-sectional survey data to empirically test the model. Third, the survey is conducted in a single country. Practical implications - The results of this paper provide several marketing implications to better manage SNSs. First, SNS managers should enhance instant communication functions, develop a platform that is convenient for users to express themselves and provide more entertainment functions. Second, SNS managers should focus on users' expectations and experiences about website functions and adjust or update website functions accordingly. Originality/value - This paper contributes to the research on continuance intention of social networking services from the perspective of Maslow's hierarchy of needs to capture motivations of continuance intention. The authors believe their conceptualizations of fulfillment of self-actualization needs and fulfillment of social needs, as well as their substantial findings, would be useful to researchers and practitioners alike to better study and manage continuance intention of socially-oriented online services.

Abstract :

DSSC, a Dynamic Slow-start threshold and Subsection Control TCP Slow-start algorithm, is proposed. The key technologies of Vegas and TCP Westwood are applied to the first slow start process in DSSC, which dynamically configures TCP Slow-Start threshold and adaptively adjusts the increasing rate of TCP transmitting windows. DSSC can reach the steady state rapidly because its configuration of slow-start threshold is based on the bandwidth estimation, thus the lost packages will be limited and the entrance of congestion avoidance stage will not be too early. An important phenomenon, the TCP congestion bottleneck buffer response, is discovered, and the reason of this phenomenon is given. The result of simulation proves that this algorithm can avoid data packets loss, get to steady state quickly, and improve TCP throughput on complex network. This algorithm is robust to bottleneck buffer, adapts to WEB service, and is compatible with the present TCP protocol. Finally It is simple and practical in that it only modifies the sender of TCP.

Abstract :

This paper describes multiple schemes to improve TCP congestion control method under wireless and mobile situations. According to wireless situation, the paper discusses multiple control methods in several categories by analyzing and comparing their characteristics. Based on the simulation analysis on multiple TCP congestion control methods, the paper proposes TCPW+SACK method to improve TCP congestion control. According to mobile situation, the paper simulated five typical TCP congestion control mechanisms, which are Reno, New Reno, SACK, TCPW, and TCPW+SACK, on condition of Cellular handoff and Mobile IP handoff. The analysis and comparison of these methods points out that TCPW+SACK can achieve better performance on Cellular handoff but no prominent improvement on Mobile IP. The paper also points out that two phenomena exist in mobile handoff situation, which are Quiet Idle and Inefficient Retransmission.

Abstract :

While the scope of entities transacting through the Internet is enlarged, the objects they are dealing with are also enriched. Therefore, the information asymmetry does not disappear, but develops to be even worse under the new Internet environment. Traditional products and services' "lemon" problems still exist, and many new traits of digital products and services lead to new appearance of "lemons" problems. In order to lessen these problems, the product or service producers ought to actively market themselves through new channels; the two parties concerned should search for the help of authorized institutions and information brokers/agents; incomplete contracts are also suitable choice for they can restrain sellers from selling inferior commodities.

Abstract :

This paper does a comparative analysis in SEC development between China and other countries from the aspect of economic environment, supervision & regulation systems and technology applications. Through the corresponding research, discretions of SEC development are dipped out. Accordingly relative strategies are proposed in the end so as to supply beneficial references for governments, brokers and technology suppliers of China and other developing countries similar to China.
