Abstract :

China's ambitious economic reform, which began in the late 1970s, was intended to revitalize existing enterprises. Accompanying this reform, China's management education has gained increased prominence, and related fields have developed concurrently as the economic reform requires a large contingent of entrepreneurial-type managerial personnel to be effective. China's management schools, however, face serious problems, including a shortage of qualified faculty, an unbalanced curriculum, deficient teaching facilities, and an undiversified student body. All these problems pose a serious threat to the success of China's economic reform, as better trained managers are the cornerstone to enterprises' success. This article presents a review of the development of China's management education system, a discussion of current problems, and recommendations for improvement.

Abstract :

Measurements of PVT properties and vapor pressure of an environmentally acceptable refrigerant HFC152a (CH3CHF2: 1,1-difluoroethane) with purity of 99.9% were carried out with a constant-volume method . Two hundred and fifty-seven PVT property data have been measured along 18 isochores in the range of temperature from 253 K to 404 K, pressure from 0.0586 MPa to 6.06 MPa and density from 3.03 kg / m3 to 840.8 kg / m3. One hundred and twenty-seven experimental data of vapor pressure were obtained in the temperature range from 337 K to 381 K coresponding to the pressure from 0.0586 MPa to 4.075 MPa. The uncertainties of the measurements using low temperature thermostated bath (-40-degrees-C approximately 40-degrees-C ) and U-tube pressure gauge system are +/-10mK, 0.35 kPa and 0.27% for temperature, pressure, and density respectively, while for high temperature thermostated bath (30-degrees-C approximately 180-degrees-C) and deadweight pressure gauge system +/-8 mK, 3.4 kPa and 0.068% respectively. Based on the present results of vapor pressure and 44 experimental data from the reference (Higashi, 1987), a new vapor pressure equation has been correlated. The average deviation is 0.12%, and the maximum deviation 0.28%.

ASYMPTOTIC NORMALITY ANALYSIS OF THE ESTIMATION ERROR OF STEADY-STATE MODELS FOR INDUSTRIAL-PROCESSES - SISO CASE EI SCIE Scopus

Abstract :

The asymptotic normality of the estimation error of steady-state models for industrial processes is investigated under quite mild conditions. The estimate is formed from the estimated parameters of an approximate linear model which is strongly consistent with the steady-state gain of slow time-varying linear SISO systems. In the parameter estimation, the weighted least-squares method is employed. The input signal (the system set point) is the usual step change din the optimization procedure. The rate of convergence is given. The stationarity and the distribution of the stochastic process are not demanded. It is also worth mentioning that, under some acceptable conditions, robustness to the structure of the approximate linear model is achieved. A simulation study shows that, for limited length of the sampled data, the best choice for the structure of approximate models as regards estimation precision is dependent upon the realization of the stochastic noise.

RELATION BETWEEN FATIGUE THRESHOLD AND FATIGUE LIMIT FOR SURFACE-ROLLED SPECIMENS SCIE Scopus

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

After cylinder notch fatigue specimens of 40 CrNiMo steel were rolled, their fatigue limit increased by 41%. The rolled specimens did not fracture, even though they had been loaded for 10(7) cycles under fatigue limit stress, but a non-propagating fatigue crack was generated. Thus the value of the fatigue limit depends on the fatigue threshold value DELTAK(th) of the metal of the rolled layer. Plastic deformation increased DELTAK(th) in these experiments. It can be inferred that DELTAK(th) of the rolled layer increases from the occurrence of plastic deformation and microvoids on the layer. Calculation of the effect of residual stress in the crack wake on the stress intensity factor DELTAK indicates that residual compression stress decreases DELTAK by 21.5 MPa square-root M. It was calculated that rolling induced both the length of the non-propagating crack and the increase of fatigue limit. The calculated values are in accord with experiment. Analysis and calculations indicate that the non-propagating crack is generated on the rolled layer. Thus the fatigue limit is improved because rolling produces residual compression stress in the layer (which decreases the stress intensity factor), and increases DELTAK(th) of the layer.

Abstract :

Due to the severe interference of multipath propagation the received teletext signal is often detected with many errors. The interference generally comes from large ghosts and conventional equalizers have unsatisfactory performance to suppress because of stability problem. In this paper, a line by line teletext data correction technique is presented. The technique is based on two facts: a) There is a period of time without any signal between the horizontal sync and the front end of every scanning line. b) Large ghosts are typically with small delays less than that period. Both of the theoretical analyses and the experiment results show that the technique is effective to correct the teletext data.

Abstract :

A non-Newtonian constitutive equation for blood has been introduced in this paper. Using this equation, blood flow attributes such as velocity profiles, flowrate, pressure gradient, and wall shear stress in both straight and stenotic (constricted) tubes have been examined. Results showed that compared with Newtonian flow at the same flowrate, the non-Newtonian normally features larger pressure gradient, higher wall shear stress, and different velocity profile, especially in stenotic tube. In addition, the non-Newtonian stenotic flow appears to be more stable than Newtonian flow.

Abstract :

Based on a linear voltage ramp method, ultraslow dielectric relaxation of undoped BaTiO3 ceramic has been carefully measured over the temperature range between -180-degrees and +120-degrees-C. Temperature dependence of the dielectric constant in the frequency range from 10(-5) to 10(-1) Hz can be obtained using Kramers-Kronig equations. Close to the Curie temperature, the dielectric constant increases so rapidly that the Curie peak is overwhelmed. Two kinds of relaxation processes were observed in this experiment. Ferroelectric domain and mobile charge are proposed to be responsible for the relaxation over the temperature range. With temperature increasing, Maxwell-Wagner relaxation associated with mobile charge gradually dominates. From relaxation time constants at various temperatures, relaxation activation energies about 0.06 and 0.09 eV are identified.

A WEAR TESTER CAPABLE OF MONITORING AND EVALUATING THE MOVEMENT PATTERN OF ABRASIVE PARTICLES IN 3-BODY ABRASION SCIE

Abstract :

The movement pattern of abrasive particles plays an important role in the three-body abrasion of tribomaterials. If the attack angle of a particle is greater than the critical attack angle, the particle cuts the materials during sliding. However, when the particles are rolling, the materials are no longer subject to cutting, but to plastic deformation. Therefore, an evaluation of the movement pattern of abrasive particles would be very important for both theoretical research and practical use of three-body abrasion. Based on this idea, a new wear tester was developed which could be used to monitor directly and record the state of movement of the particles. At the same time the friction coefficient could be measured. Using this tester the rolling to sliding ratio could be evaluated statistically and the range of probability of cutting wear could be evaluated.

CONSTRAINT OF SIDE-GROOVE AND ITS INFLUENCE ON FRACTURE-TOUGHNESS PARAMETER IN CHARPY-SIZE SPECIMENS EI SCIE Scopus

Abstract :

The effect of a side-groove constraint on a pre-cracked Charpy-size specimen, and the influence of a side-groove on fracture toughness parameters are studied. The results indicate that when side-groove depth approaches a critical value, the maximum load toughness J(m) values are nearly coincident with the initiation toughness J(i) values. The thickening action of the side-groove may be expressed by calculating the extra thickness of the specimen. For different materials the additional thickness due to the side-groove is distinct. When the side-groove depth is 33% of the specimen thickness the specimen obtains the maximum additional thickness. The side-groove constraint coefficient (C) presented by this paper can quantitatively evaluate the level of plastic constraint at the crack tip, and explains the experimental results well.
