Testing for spatial autocorrelation among the residuals of the geographically weighted regression SSCI Scopus

Abstract :

Geographically weighted regression (GWR) is a useful technique for exploring spatial nonstationarity by calibrating, for example, a regression model which allows different relationships to exist at different points in space. In this line of research, many spatial data sets have been successfully analyzed and some statistical tests for spatial variation have been developed. However, an important assumption in these studies is that the disturbance terms of the GWR model are uncorrelated and of common variance. Similar to the case in the ordinary linear regression, spatial autocorrelation can invalidate the standard assumption of homoscedasticity of the disturbances and mislead the results of statistical inference. Therefore, developing some statistical methods to test for spatial autocorrelation is a very important issue. In this paper, two kinds of the statistical tests for spatial autocorrelation among the residuals of the GWR model are suggested. Also, an efficient approximation method for calculating the p-values of the test statistics is proposed. Some simulations are run to examine the performances of the proposed methods and the results are encouraging. The study not only makes it possible to test for spatial autocorrelation among the GWR residuals in a conventional statistical manner, but also provides a useful means for model validation.

Abstract :

In this paper, the emerging trends in the manufacturing industry have been identified and explained for the first time, using the systems concept. The theme of the trends is moving from parts to wholes: from functional area optimization to manufacturing capability building, from sequential production to parallel production, and from economies of scale to economies of scope. All these changes have showed that manufacturing managers are more interested in considering manufacturing tasks as the responsibility of an entire organization rather than as the functional responsibility of a firm. An integrated information systems approach based on the general systems concept has been suggested to meet the challenge derived from the new trends. The integrated manufacturing information systems focuses on orchestrating objectives, actions and tasks of an entire organization to build up competitive manufacturing capabilities, achieve manufacturing excellence, and sustain a reasonable level of growth. Abstract :

In this article, the authors report on a study of the cultural transmission of uxorilocal marriage in Lueyang, China. They find that uxorilocal marriage has been cornmonly accepted and practiced in Lueyang since the beginning of this century, and uxorilocal marriage has been both a contingent and an institutional option for farmers with both preservative and practical purposes. Causes underlying contingent uxorilocal marriage are mostly demographic, and causes underlying institutional uxorilocal marriage are mostly economic, but a weak patriarchal family system, lack of dominant family clans in villages, and relaxed village regulation of uxorilocal marriage in Lueyang also play decisive roles. The occurrence of uxorilocal marriage is transmitted both from parents to children and from nonparental members of communities to couples. Rural economic reform since 1978 has had important influences on the transmission effects of uxorilocal marriage.

Abstract :

Geographically weighted regression (GWR) is a way of exploring spatial nonstationarity by calibrating a multiple regression model which allows different relationships to exist at different points in space. Nevertheless, formal testing procedures for spatial nonstationarity have not been developed since the inception of the model. In this paper the authors focus mainly on the development of statistical testing methods relating to this model. Some appropriate statistics for testing the goodness of fit of the GWR model and for testing variation of the parameters in the model are proposed and their approximated distributions are investigated. The work makes it possible to test spatial nonstationarity in a conventional statistical manner. To substantiate the theoretical arguments, some simulations are run to examine the power of the statistics for exploring spatial nonstationarity and the results are encouraging. To streamline the model, a stepwise procedure for choosing important independent variables is also formulated. In the last section, a prediction problem based on the GWR model is studied, and a confidence interval for the true value of the dependent variable at a new location is also established. The study paves the path for formal analysis of spatial nonstationarity on the basis of the GWR model.

The Chinese government has adopted a policy to separate the management and ownership of the state-owned enterprises as a key step to move them towards modern-type enterprises. State-owned Enterprises' Contract System (SECS) is a major enterprise management system in China today. In this paper, mathematical models are employed to examine some macro aspects of SECS. First, the behavior of SECS is analyzed through introducing two measurement indices; second, two incentive models of SECS are developed using audit as a tool for acquiring information for decision making; third, from a mathematical analysis, a general rule which determines optimal incentive strategy under perfect information is presented. Abstract :

Rapid and high precision data acquisition methodology from coordinate components with free-form surface and geometrical model can be implemented widely. Typical application covers part localization, automatic calibration and reverse engineering. Integrated structured light vision sensor with CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) enhances the high-precision coordinate measurement capability. In this paper a curvature-based adaptive sampling approach and the evaluating index for the sampling precision are presented. The matching and subdividing algorithm for generating matrix-type mesh data from sample points is described. The methodology to register and merge the measured data from multiple viewpoints to model the free-form surface is also presented. Based on the given initial coordinate rotation matrix R and transformation vector T, the different viewpoints can be translated into a unique frame of reference. By introducing special coordinate of 3D space, the registered data is divided into mesh, which cover the whole surface of object. An application example for shoe modeling is described to illustrate the advantages.

Abstract :

A new approach of adaptive Kalman filtering deconvolution (AKFD) is developed basing on dyadic wavelet transform. The technique discards the assumption of stationarity for signals in predictive deconvolution, and overcomes improving resolution at the price of decreasing signal-to-noise rate (SNR) obviously. The technique can well compress the reflection waveforms, but the noises are not variable in substance. So it has a better ability of resistance noise. Suppressing false reflections in dyadic wavelet transform domain is better than by applying AKFD in time domain. In addition the technique also has the characteristic of adaptive Kalman filtering in every band for a signal respectively, it enhances the adaptation of Kalman filtering, so the resolution is obvious higher than that one in time domain. A great deal of numerical models and real seismic data indicate that the technique has obvious effect. At the same time, the technique also overcomes the drawback of increasing the low-frequency component of AKFD in time domain. The approach not only suits for seismic data, but also can be used for reference to another similar signal processing.

Abstract :

The multi-beam confocal system has been an important 3D measurement because of its peculiarity of non-contact, high precision and high speed. In this paper, an interpolation technique is studied, and a fast method to get the 3D profile adapted to the multi-beam confocal system is inferred. Compared with the usual method, the fast method uses more sampling information, so higher precision can be gotten at the given sampling distance. Theoretic analysis shows that 1 micron measurement precision can be reached while the axial sampling distance is 22 micron and NA is 0.12. However, since large angular field is used, the focal plan of the system is concave and the curve degree is often larger than measurement precision, unless the system must be designed strictly. Conicoid fitting technique is adopted to calibrate the error, and experiment indicates the method is useful for error revision.

Based on gearing theory and computing technology. the mathematical model of the engagement and manufacture for single screw compressor (SSC) is established, the space locations and section shapes of every teeth for worm (mainrotor) and gear (gaterotor) are given, contact lines at every instant are displayed. The relationship of two kinds of surfaces for gaterotor is discussed in this paper, one surface is shaped by the entering edge of the worm and the other is the enveloping surface of the worm, interference value between two kinds of surfaces is calculated. Possibility: to generate gear by flying tool and honing worm is analyzed. a hob which is very difficult for manufacturing is not used, it makes gear manufacturing very easy and gear tooth is accurate and smooth. For the nonmodified double enveloping worm gearing in SSC, besides the first and second instantaneous contact lines, another (the third) contact region is exist, equation, shape and existing condition of the third contact line are presented. The assembling condition of norm and gear is discussed.

Shortest-path problem based interactive segmentation method and its application in medical image analysis CPCI-S

Abstract :

The shortest-path problem is one important problem in the graph theory. In this paper, a novel image segmentation method based on the shortest-path problem has been investigated. The method firstly constructs the graph from the image, and find out the start and the end points interactive. Then the problem of image segmentation translates to the problem of find out the shortest-path in special area of the graph and we employ the algorithm due to Dijkstra to solve it. We apply this method in medical image segmentation and the result show this method can get segmentations with recorded edge.
