Abstract :

In this paper, we presented a algorithm that implements the automatic detection of faces and facial features in color images. Firsts we use the chroma chart technique to determine the skin regions, then separate the touching regions apart using morphological operators; Second, we extract the candidate facial feature regions using morphological valley operators, for each skin region; Third, we match the candidate facial features with the model face we proposed to determine the optimal facial feature combination of eyes and mouth, thus we get the final description of the faces' geometric information. In this work, we improved the performance of the chroma chart, introduced morphological operators into the skin region analysis and facial feature detection, put forward our matching scheme that's fast and stable. The whole process is completely automatic, and is robust to lighting conditions, shading, tilt, multiple faces, etc.

Abstract :

Space-time channel can be described by vector channel impulse response (VCIR). Estimation the VCIR is very important for Smart Antenna Systems. In this paper, based on multi-user decorrelation, a blind VCIR estimation method for CDMA with aperiodic spreading code is proposed in a closed form, The new method has the ability to resistance near-far effect. Computer simulation demonstrates that the accurate of the VCIR estimated by the new method can meet the need for extract DOA and time delay.

Abstract :

Many blind channel estimation methods have been proposed for direct sequence (DS) CDMA systems, so we can certainly use them to estimate the finite impulse response (FIR) channel for the multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system. In this paper, we interpret the MC-CDMA system as an equivalently DS-CDMA system with specific spreading codes. Then, an equivalently blind time-domain channel estimator is derived for the MC-CDMA uplink, which is based on second-order statistics of the received data. Because there is no need of a large amount of sampling data, this method is greatly suitable for the fast time varying wireless channels. By exploiting singular value decomposition (SVD) and the finite alphabet property of transmitted symbols, the time-domain channel impulse response (CIR) for the MC-CDMA can be accurately identified. Computer simulations illustrate both the validity and the overall performance of the proposed estimator.

Abstract :

The multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) technique is known to be appropriate for high-data-rate wireless communications due to its robustness to multipath fading and its capability of handling high-data-rate transmissions with a simple one-tap equalizer. This paper investigates a uniform linear antenna array at the base station for macrocell MC-CDMA systems in a frequency-selective fading channel environment, and develops a blind space-frequency channel estimator for MC-CDMA system with antenna array. As a by-product, the direction-of-arrivals (DOAs) can also be estimated. By constructing a specific auxiliary matrix including both space-frequency channel and DOA information, and performing eigen decomposition on it, we can obtain the closed-form solution of space-frequency channels and DOAs for all active users within the macrocell. The overall performance of this novel scheme is demonstrated by extensive computer simulations.

Abstract :

Constant modulus property of communication signal, such as FM and phase-modulated signal, are often be used in blind separation of multiple users. Because there is no training sequences needed, the system transmission efficiency is increased. When extended to space-time domain, the new schemes have potential performance than conventional ones. In this paper a Feedback Adaptive Space-Time Constant Modulus Algorithm (FAST-CMA) is proposed for DS-CDMA multiuser detection. First the uplink channel model is built with receiving K synchronous communication signals that are transmitted through an MIMO-FIR channel. Based on this channel model, we compare and analyze the FAST-CMA with Cascade-type Constant Modulus Algorithm (CT-CMA) and Space-Time type Constant Modulus Algorithm (ST-CMA). The FAST-CMA can combat both ISI and MAI without stringent power control and training sequence, and it is preferable to CT-CMA and approximately has the same performance as the ST-CMA. It has faster convergence rate, less computational complexity than STCMA. Numerical simulations can illustrate the effectiveness of this algorithm.

Abstract :

Third-generation (3G) wireless systems are being driven by the desire to support innovative broadband multimedia services. Multicarrier Modulation Code Division Multiple Access (MCM-CDMA) or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Code Division Multiple Access (OFDM-CDMA) schemes can meet such demand, so they are broadly considered as effective methods for future wireless multimedia communications. Since variant OFDM-CDMA schemes will coexist for a long time, reconfigurable multimode transceivers, which are compatible with diverse OFDM-CDMA schemes, are indispensable for base station and mobile station. In this paper by exploiting the concept of Software-Defined Radio (SDR), an SDR-based baseband discrete model for variant OFDM-CDMA schemes is developed. Moreover the corresponding matrix representation is addressed.

Abstract :

The main performance of the aluminum-electrolytic capacitor depends on the quality of the anodic oxide firm used as dielectric, which lies on the form capacity of the form-electrolyte. Therefore, it is very important to measure the form capacity of the form-electrolyte. However, the method, at present, cannot scale the capacity of it. We bring forward expressions that use to measure the electrolyte's form capacity according to the equivalent circuit of the oxide firm in the literature [1]. We found the method is right by a great deal of experiments in different temperatures and concentrations of the electrolyte. Moreover, the measure only needs a circuit control system.

Abstract :

In this paper, we present an adaptive contrast enhancement (ACE) method in which the contrast gain is determined by mapping the local standard deviation (LSD) histogram of an image to a Gaussian distribution function. The contrast gain is nonlinearly adjusted to avoid noise overenhancernent and ringing artifacts while improving the detail contrast with less computational loading. The effectiveness of our method is demonstrated with radiological images.

Abstract :

It is needed to enhance sensitivity and resolving power in microresonators, which give weak frequency variation in perceiving pressure and temperature. The simulated extraction of weak frequency variation is carried out with the manifesting resonant frequency-locking property when system transits from chaotic to great periodic motion. With signal preprocessing used bandpass sampling and downsampling, measurement system is founded based on chaos. At the same time it is pointed out that the system can realize flexible measurement in silicon microresonators.

Abstract :

The direction-of-arrival (DOA) is one of important parameters in addition to time-of-arrival (TOA) and attenuation, to describe the most of radio propagation channel models. The time-frequency analysis is a powerful technique to deal with time-variant or non-stationary signal. Although M.G. Amin and L. Jin combined it with coherent signal subspace (CSS) approach, it's not easy to extend from narrowband to wideband case. In this paper, we first overview the fast Chirplet-based signal decomposition algorithm, then build the general time-frequency covariance matrix to overlap the narrowband and wideband of CSS. After discussing the difference of two cases, we propose a wideband DOA estimation algorithm with fast chirplet-based adaptive signal decomposition. The algorithm has no restriction to the array manifold. We give the comparison of our proposed algorithm with optimal solution of maximum likelihood (ML). We can see that the proposed algorithm has very low complexity. Its robust performance is demonstrated with numerical simulations.
