Abstract:

To study the matching relationship between the matrix and carbonate electrolyte of MCFC, and evaluation method for the relationship, γ-LiAlO2matrix with solid loading of 25%-40% slurry and electrolyte carbonate with solid content of 35% and 45% were prepared by tape casting method. Single cells were assembled with different solid loading matrix and carbonate sheets. Cell open circuit voltage was monitored during the sintering process. The experiments results show that the cell assembled by 40% matrix and 45% solid loading carbonate has a good performance. It is concluded that the cell performance was optimal when the solid content weight ratio of carbonate and matrix reached 1.16. Additionally, the cell sintering process was associated with the changes of open circuit voltage due to the electric double layer exist on the surface of the anode and cathode, so the cell performance could be evaluated by analyzing the change tendencies of open circuit voltage. © 2012 Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering.
