All right reserved. The flow and heat transfer characteristics of air/mist coolant in the rotating ribbed U-shaped channel were numerically investigated by using SST turbulence model. The effect of initial mist diameter and temperature on the mist/air cooling parameters was analyzed. The results showed that the droplets move towards trailing wall at the first pass of the rotating channel, while at the second pass droplets move towards leading wall. When the initial mist diameter decreases, the mist diameter in heating section decreases, resulting in higher heat transfer. At the same time, the mist concentration also decreases, leading to lower heat transfer. Therefore, there exists an optimal initial mist diameter for heat transfer performance. The mist flow distance and heat transfer enhancement increase as mist temperature decreases.
