Abstract:
Regarding to sandwich plates and shells with partially smart constrained layer damping (SCLD) treatment, based on the zig-zag hypothesis, an electromechanical coupling dynamic finite element (FE) model is derived, and realized the accurate calculation of frequency and loss factor. A eight-node element with quadratic shape function is adopted for FE modeling, and each node with 7 mechanical degrees of freedom (DOFs), considering the complex elastic modulus of damping layer. Through calculation and simulation of an example from the literature to verify the model's accuracy. The effects of coverage percentage of SCLD and curvature of structure are investigated. This study provides references for vibration reduction and optimization design of sandwich smart structures. © 2021 IEEE.
