The properties optimization of Ti-B20 titanium alloy by heat treatment

Abstract:

Ti-B20 titanium alloy is a new metastable beta titanium alloy with high strength. The room temperature tensile properties and microstructure of this alloy under different heat treatment conditions were investigated. The results show that the new alloy possesses much higher age strengthening effect than traditional metastable beta titanium alloys after beta solution treatment. However, the ductility is usually quite low. Through alpha-beta solution plus aging treatment, excellent combination of strength and ductility can be achieved.
