Abstract:
The interface strength and oxidation-resistance of alumina/heat-resistant steel composite have been investigated. Results indicate that both the interface strength and oxidation-resistance is improved by coating the aluminum oxide with Ni and TiN. The interface strength and oxidation resistance of the composite with Ni coating are better than that with TiN coating. The Ni coating dissolves into the steel matrix during melt infiltration, while the TiN coating still exists on the interface between aluminum oxide and heat-resistant steel.
