Abstract:

The Mo and Mo + 30% (NiCrBSi) coatings were fabricated on Al-10Si alloy by supersonic plasma spraying. The microstructure, microhardness, bonding strength and wear resistance of the coatings were tested and analyzed. The results show that the both coatings have good tribological behaviors under the boundary lubrication conditions, but the wear resistance of Mo + 30% (NiCrBSi) coating is better than that of the pure Mo one, due to the solution hardening of the Ni-Cr solid solution and the dispersion strengthening of the hard interstitial compounds such as Cr2B and Cr7C3 in the Mo + 30% (NiCrBSi) coating.
