Spatial image evolution of the Rydberg nonlinear process controlled by a multiparameter probe field EI Scopus SCIE

Abstract :

We report the regularity of experimental evolution of Rydberg six-wave mixing (SWM) spatial images that were effectively controlled by adjusting various probe field parameters. Due to the high-order nonlinear Rydberg process, evolution of the spatial defocusing and splitting was observed by changing the detuning, polarization, and power of the probe field. Modulated spatial images obtained in a Rydberg nonlinear medium were found to be related to the refractive index. This study clarifies the spatial transmission rules for Rydberg SWM, which can be used to study the light field modulation of space imaging of a Rydberg atom ensemble and can provide evidence for the design of advanced materials. © 2018 Elsevier B.V.

Interferograms of Votex FWM Beam for Nonlinear Spatial Filter in Photonic Band Gap SCIE

Abstract :

We analyze the properties and interferograms of vortex four-wave mixing (FWM) beams by varying the incident angle of the probe field. Based on the properties, we propose the model of a new type of nonlinear spatial filter without diffraction using a Bragg grating in the nonlinear FWM process. We show the evolutions of shapes and interferograms of probe transmission signal (PTS) and FWM by scanning the probe detuning, and demonstrate the Kerr nonlinearity can manipulate the shapes and spatial location of vortex PTS and FWM images. Further, we can determine the center position of the new type of nonlinear filter through interference patterns and use the Kerr nonlinearity of related fields to control the nonlinear filter precisely. In addition, the interferograms of the reflected signal from the photonic band gap (PBG) structure are studied both in experiment and theory. We demonstrate that the number of fork-like patterns of reflected signal changes from one to three, revealing that the superposition of first-order and third-order beams in the reflected signal from PBG structure creates an inverted fork-like pattern.

Abstract :

In this paper, we raise a few corrections from the Li et al paper (2015 Phys. Rev. A 91 012302). We obtain some stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) invariants from second degree to sixth degree by defining square matrices. The relation of SLOCC invariants and the character polynomial of the square matrix are defined for three and four qubit states. This method comes as a useful resource in determining SLOCC invariants for n-qubit states.

Abstract :

Phase transition of crystals is one of the most important topics in condensed matter physics, chemistry, and materials sciences in which the basic physical and chemical properties of the crystals themselves are first determined during atomic rearrangements. In general, achieving the phase transition needs high temperature, high pressure, and heavy doping treatments. Here, we describe a BiPO4:Eu crystal system in which the phase transition from hexagonal to low-temperature monoclinic structure can be effectively manipulated by a simple method of increasing the anion (PO43-) concentration in the reaction solution. This is associated with the improvement in the free energy in the crystallographic system in which only the crystallographic phase having the energy lower than the system free energy is finally formed. The observed morphologies of the BiPO4:Eu crystals within the low temperature monoclinic structure are divided into four types and each of them stems from the geometrical evolution of the standard monoclinic structure. The low-temperature monoclinic structure exhibits superior performance in luminescence as compared to hexagonal one due to the extent of significant nonradiative process in the lattices of the latter. The idea provided here could be extended to understanding the effects of reaction anion or cation on the phase transition of other important down/upconversion luminescence materials such as YPO4 and Na(Y,Gd)F-4. A question on how many crystal systems. can achieve phase transition through the method reported here needs and deserves to be explored.

Asymmetric conical diffraction in dislocated edge-centered square lattices SCIE

Abstract :

We investigate linear and nonlinear evolution dynamics of light beams propagating along a dislocated edge-centered square lattice. The band structure and Brillouin zones of this novel lattice are analyzed analytically and numerically. Asymmetric Dirac cones as well as the corresponding Bloch modes of the lattice are obtained. By adopting the tight-binding approximation, we give an explanation of the asymmetry of Dirac cones. By utilizing the appropriate Bloch modes, linear and nonlinear asymmetric conical diffraction are demonstrated. We find that both the focusing and defocusing nonlinearities can enhance the asymmetry of the conical diffractions. Abstract :

In this paper, we determine the complementarity relations for pure quantum states of N qubits by presenting the definition of local and non-local forms. By comparing the entanglement monogamy equality proposed by Coffman, Kundu, and Wootters, we prove that there exist strict monogamy laws for quantum correlations in all many-qubit systems. Further, the proper form of general entanglement monogamy equality for arbitrary quantum states is found with the characterization of total quantum correlation of qubits. These results may open a new window for multi-qubit entanglement.

Abstract :

Eight-wave mixing (EWM) is a seven-order nonlinear process that can reflect nonclassical features within multiple optical fields, thus imparting certain advantages. In this study, we directly observed the EWM spectrum and spatial images that show Rydberg atoms under a circularly polarized probe field in a five-level coherently prepared atomic system. Such circular polarization dressing fields can obtain high-contrast Rydberg EWM overcome the difficulties of several multi-wave mixing (MWM) signals always coexist, and the multi-parameter controlling Rydberg EWM mechanism is established by changing the power and detuning and polarization of the dressing fields. These controllable high-order MWM processes present a contrast ratio of 96% and a narrow linewidth of <30 MHz compared with low-order mixing processes under identical conditions (e.g., six-wave mixing). The corresponding MWM spatial images are presented, and they can partly reflect the underlying nonlinear phase variation, whereas the given theory can predict the experimental results. Abstract :

With two sets of standing-wave fields built in a thermal rubidium vapor cell, we have established a controllable photonic crystal with periodic gain in a coherently prepared N-type four-level atomic configuration. First, the photonic lattice constructed by a resonant standing-wave coupling field results in a spatially modulated susceptibility and makes the signal field diffract in a discrete manner under the condition of electromagnetically induced transparency. Then, with the addition of the standing-wave pump field, the N-type atomic medium can induce a periodic Raman gain on the signal field, which can be effectively controlled by tuning the pertinent atomic parameters. The experimental demonstration of such a real-time reconfigurable photonic crystal structure with periodic Raman gain can pave the way for realizing desired applications predicted in the gain-modulated periodic optical systems. Abstract :

We study different dressing effects in parametrically amplified four-wave mixing (PA-FWM) processes. By seeding a weak probe laser into the Stokes or anti-Stokes channel of the FWM, the gain process is generated in the so-called bright twin beams which are the probe and conjugate beams. The dressing types dramatically affect the gain factors in both the probe and conjugate channels. The gain factor of the FWM signal decreases under the cascade-type dressing and the signal's shape splits into two dips under this dressing type. However, the intensity of the FWM signal changes from suppression to enhancement under the parallel-type dressing. We will apply this switching process to all-optical switching. Abstract :

We investigate the spectral signals and spatial images of a probe transmission signal, four-wave mixing (FWM), and six-wave mixing (SWM) under double dressing effects in an inverted Y-type system. Especially, we get the triple tailored nonlinear dispersion (about 60 MHz) of the dressed FWM and SWM through the interaction between electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) windows and the Kerr nonlinearity. Moreover, SWM and dressed FWM with narrow linewidth are obtained through the tailoring of the three EIT windows, which is much narrower than the EIT. In addition, we first elaborate the modulation effect from the self-Kerr coefficient of FWM on the spot. We also investigate the spatial characteristics (defocusing, shifting, and splitting) of FWM and SWM induced by tailored self-Kerr and cross-Kerr effects among the relative fields. Such spatial shifting, splitting induced by the tailored nonlinear dispersion can be used for a higher contrast and high speed switch as well as a high resolution router.
