Abstract :

As non-isolated step-up and step-down DC-DC converters are at present widely used in various fields, this review will summarize and introduce non-isolated step-up and step-down DC-DC converters in various aspects. First of all, the origin and development of power electronics technology and the generation and principle of certain basic non-isolated step-up and step-down DC-DC converters are briefly stated. Subsequently, according to their different characteristics, including whether they are unidirectional or bidirectional, voltage-fed or current-fed, or hard-switching or soft-switching, the review will classify them and analyze their advantages and disadvantages. Meanwhile, in order to change the voltage gains of the DC-DC converters, different voltage change techniques are applied to them. The review will elaborate on the four technologies (switched capacitors, voltage multipliers, switched inductors and different ways of connecting), providing examples and analyzing the topologies in which they are applied, before summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of these techniques. Finally, this review will describe the specific applications of non-isolated step-up and step-down DC-DC converters and the reasons behind their ubiquity and popularity. Although the performances of current DC-DC converter topologies are good, there continues to be increasing demand, an updating of the topology structure, and improvements in terms of their performance. In the future, DC-DC converters will play a more important role in industrial production and people's lives.

Abstract :

In this article, the slow-scale instability occurring in the three-level T-type inverter with a passive memristive (3LT(2)IPM) load is investigated. The average model of the 3LT(2)IPM, whose coefficient matrix is nonlinear periodic time-varying, is constructed, both harmonic balance method used to calculate the approximate solution of the average model and Floquet theory used to identify the circuit dynamic states are applied to explore the mechanism of the slow-scale instability emerging in the 3LT(2)IPM. Theoretical results indicate that the slow-scale instability of the 3LT(2)IPM is caused by Hopf bifurcation emerging in a region where the frequency is higher than line frequency but much lower than switching frequency. Also, the conditions of three theoretical parameters that make the theoretical analysis results as accurate as possible are presented. Different parameters impact on the stability boundary of the 3LT(2)IPM in various design parameter spaces are discussed, and the Floquet multiplier sensitivity is analyzed to identify key parameters for the stability of the 3LT(2)IPM, which are helpful to guide parameter adjustment of the 3LT(2)IPM to ensure its stable operation in practice. Finally, hardware experiment is established and experimental verification is provided. Physical experiments agree well with simulations, which together demonstrate the correctness of theoretical analysis.

Abstract :

In this article, the fast-scale instability in the three-level T-type single-phase inverter feeding diode-bridge rectifier with inductive load (3TSI-DR) is studied. Simulations suggest that such fast-scale instability on switching period scale can increase the harmonic content in the 3TSI-DR, which seriously affects its stable operation. To reveal the mechanism of this fast-scale instability, the state equation of the 3TSI-DR is derived, and state variables are solved based on quasi-static approximation principle. From state equation, the 3TSI-DR is periodic time-varying and piecewise smooth, belonging to Filippov system. Accordingly, the discrete-time mapping model of the 3TSI-DR is established, Filippov method is used for obtaining monodromy matrix, and Floquet theory is applied to explore instability mechanism. Theoretical results indicate that the fast-scale instability of the 3TSI-DR is caused by period-doubling bifurcation. Moreover, the Floquet multiplier sensitivities of different circuit parameters are calculated to identify key parameters; via comparing theoretical analyses with simulations, the unstable angle ranges of the fast-scale instability are given, and the stability boundaries in various parameter spaces are discussed. All these can provide design-oriented information for optimizing the 3TSI-DR to avoid instability due to period-doubling bifurcation. Finally, experimental results agreeing with simulations are presented to verify the correctness of theoretical analyses.

Abstract :

An inverter, whose inductor current is periodic, is the key equipment for photovoltaic power generation, fuel cell power generation, etc. A nonlinear inductor, whose inductance will be changed by its current, can be used to improve the grid current quality of the inverter, although making the mathematical model of the inverter system more complex. In this paper, the voltage-controlled full-bridge inverter with a nonlinear inductor is investigated and its mathematical model is established. The influence of parameters on the dynamical behaviors of this system is analyzed by using the harmonic balance method and the Floquet theory. Consequently, the mechanism for the occurrence of medium-frequency oscillation is revealed. The hardware circuit for the voltage-controlled full-bridge inverter with a nonlinear inductor is designed and some experimental results are presented for confirmation. The research results show that the mechanism for the occurrence of medium-frequency oscillation is Hopf bifurcation and its oscillation frequency is between the line frequency and the switching frequency.

Abstract :

The self-excited attractors and hidden attractors in a memcapacitive system which has three elements are studied in this paper. The critical parameter of stable and unstable states is calculated by identifying the eigenvalues of Jacobian matrix. Besides, complex dynamical behaviors are investigated in the system, such as coexisting attractors, hidden attractors, coexisting bifurcation modes, intermittent chaos, and multistability. From the theoretical analyses and numerical simulations, it is found that there are four different kinds of transient transition behaviors in the memcapacitive system. Finally, field programmable gate array (FPGA) is used to implement the proposed chaotic system. © 2020 Chinese Physical Society and IOP Publishing Ltd.

Abstract :

In the past, the memristor model and its application research have mainly focused on constructing and analyzing the memristor model and its equivalent circuit model based on the basic concept of memristor, while the research based on commercial memristive devices in the market has been rare. According to the theoretical relationship between meminductor and memristor, a new model of meminductor is constructed based on Knowm memristor, the first commercial memristor chip in the world, combined with the second-generation current conveyor and transconductance operational amplifier. By adjusting the frequency and the amplitude of the input voltage and the transconductance gain of the transconductance operational amplifier, the continuous adjustment of the meminductance can be effectively achieved in the circuit. The LTspice circuit model and hardware experimental circuit of the proposed meminductor are designed. The validity of the new meminductor model and the correctness of the design method are verified by LTspice simulations and circuit experiments.

Abstract :

In this study, a new current-controlled memristor is proposed and its characteristics are analyzed. Based on this new memristor, a new four-dimensional chaotic circuit is proposed. The complex dynamics of the proposed chaotic circuit are investigated. From the results of the theoretical analysis and the numerical simulations, it is found that the memristor-based chaotic circuit can generate different types of attractors including single-scroll, double-scroll, and periodic attractors for varying circuit parameters. By taking symmetrical initial conditions, symmetric steady coexisting attractors are obtained under the same set of circuit parameters. For certain initial conditions, striking transient coexisting attractors with different timescales can be obtained. In particular, there are two transient changes occurring successively at different time scales respect to the same initial conditions for the proposed chaotic circuit, which is a novel dynamic property. Finally, a practical circuit platform that describes the proposed chaotic circuit on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) is designed, and some experimental results are presented for confirmation. Abstract :

Positive Lyapunov exponent (LE) is vital to identify a dynamical system being chaotic or hyperchaotic. A simple method that the right-hand side of differential equations which can be used to describe the chaotic system, is multiplied by a constant value, is proposed. From the proposed method, it can not only enlarge the positive LE of chaotic or hyperchaotic systems, but also accelerate their calculation speed. Sprott C chaotic system is selected as an example to show its effectiveness. Finally, an electronic circuit model for Sprott C chaotic system is designed and some experimental results are presented for confirmation.
