Abstract:
The metal nickel (Ni) on the surface of alumina (Al2O3) ceramic was deposited with NiCl2powder as a raw material by a chemical vapor deposition technique and subsequent H2reduction treatment. The phase composition, adhesion between the coating and Al2O3ceramics and wetting behavior between the coating and molten copper were investigated. The resurts indicate that main component is Ni in the prepared coating, the Ni coating with the thickness of 40 μm is uniform and dense. The effective binding between the Ni coating and Al2O3ceramic occurs. The contact angle between Ni-coated Al2O3ceramic and molten copper is 30.15° measured by a sessile drop test, showing the improvement of the wettability between ceramic and metal due to the coating.
