Abstract:

H2S is one of the major odorous gases, which is harmful to human health, and pollutes the environment. A process of adsorptive removing H2S by activated carbon was proposed. The mechanisms of desulfurization by activated carbon and kinetics of mass transfer in fixed bed adsorption were theoretically studied. To predict the breakthrough curves, a fixed bed desulfurization reactor mathematical model was established and simulated by using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Meanwhile, the breakthrough curves were studied and plotted according to the experimental data. The simulation result shows that the breakthrough curves under the different conditions are in well agreement with that of the experimental data. Moreover, the effect of the space velocity, temperature and the feed gas content on the adsorption capacity were investigated.
