Abstract:

Supercritical carbon dioxide (SCO2) possesses the merits of high density, low viscosity. Hence, it's promising in the application of Brayton cycle power system, which owns compact system structure and high efficiency. In this paper, both domestic and overseas advances and research achievements of SCO2 Brayton cycle and turbomachinery, i. e. turbine and compressor, in recent years were summarized. The characteristics of SCO2 and the advantages of Brayton cycles were introduced. Then, the study of SCO2 Brayton cycle and testing systems from various research institutions were listed. Besides, the design method, numerical analyses and experimental study of the turbomachinery in the SCO2 Brayton cycle, which contains megawatt and kilowatt turbine and compressor, were covered. Hence, this paper provided the foundation for the study of SCO2 Brayton cycle and turbomachinery in the future. © 2018 Chin. Soc. for Elec. Eng.
