This　letter　presents　a　double-side　measuring　method　for　online　partial-discharge　(　PD)　detection　and　location　in　covered　conductor　(　CC)　lines.　To　synchronize　both　PD　sampling　units　mounted　on　two　separate　sides,　a　novel　time　alignment　technique　is　proposed　and　implemented　using　the　combination　of　a　pulse　injector　and　a　pulse　detector.　A　laboratory　experiment　on　a　10-kV　CC　line　was　conducted　to　verify　the　feasibility　of　this　technique.
